WHAT IS ROTARY? / GOALS2018

Rotary  Club Adelaide Parks 2018-2019 PLAN

OUR MISSION:

Rotary International Causes = Rotary Club of Adelaide Parks Causes
Rotary is dedicated to six areas of focus to build international relationships, improve lives, and create a better world to support our peace efforts and end polio forever.
Furthermore, the Rotary Club of Adelaide Parks intends to strengthen itself as a club and build its capacity to serve the local community

GOAL 1: Promoting peace

Rotary encourages conversations to foster understanding within and across cultures. We train adults and young leaders to prevent and mediate conflict and help refugees who have fled dangerous areas.
RCAP ACTIONS:
 Support international students.

GOAL 2: Fighting disease

We educate and equip communities to stop the spread of life-threatening diseases like polio, HIV/AIDS, and malaria. We improve and expand access to low-cost and free health care in developing areas.
RCAP ACTIONS:
 Support & Fund:  Polio eradication; Cystic Fibrosis SA

GOAL 3: Providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene

We support local solutions to bring clean water, sanitation, and hygiene to more people every day. We don’t just build wells and walk away. We share our expertise with community leaders and educators to make sure our projects succeed long-term.
RCAP ACTIONS:
 Support & Fund: Disaster Aid Abroad

GOAL 4: Saving mothers and children

Nearly 6 million children under the age of five die each year because of malnutrition, poor health care, and inadequate sanitation. We expand access to quality care, so mothers and their children can live and grow stronger.
RCAP ACTIONS:
 Support & Fund: Rotary Foundation; Vanuatu School

GOAL 5: Supporting education

More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. Our goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy.
RCAP ACTIONS:
 Support & Fund: RYLA; RYPEN; NYSF; Pulteney Grammar prizes; Smith Family; Vanuatu School; AGN School scholarships

GOAL 6: Growing local economies

We carry out service projects that enhance economic and community development and create opportunities for decent and productive work for young and old. We also strengthen local entrepreneurs and community leaders, particularly women, in impoverished communities.
RCAP ACTIONS:
 Support & Fund: Magdeleine Centre

GOAL 7: Strengthen the Rotary Club of Adelaide Parks

We will acknowledge and celebrate our founders and the heritage of the club and create further opportunities for fellowship amongst our members. We will also strengthen our meetings through diversifying our program and engaging members in raising awareness of the broad array of Rotary activity, locally, nationally and internationally.
RCAP ACTIONS:
 Deliver a vibrant program of meetings and activities
 Engage with other Rotary Clubs e.g. Hyde park, Adelaide South
 Regularly report RCAP activity and finances to members
 Develop and activate category of associate membership of RCAP
 Actively raise funds, seek District Grant(s) & other grants
